During history there were many changes in Upper Silesia.

In the year 1861, Upper Silesia was the so called “Regierungsbezirk Oppeln”. It was divided into16 districts: (1) Creutzburg, (2) Rosenberg, (3) Oppeln, (4) Groß Strehlitz, (5) Lublinitz, (6) Tost-Gleiwitz, (7) Beuthen, (8) Pless, (9) Rybnik, (10) Ratibor, (11) Cosel, (12) Leobschütz, (13) Neustadt, (14) Falkenberg, (15) Neisse, and (16) Grottkau. The population consists of 1,126,270 inhabitants, from which 409,218 spoke German, 665,585 Polish and 51.187 Bohemian/Morawian.
